A Walnut Media Wall with a Backlit Stone TV Panel

July 16, 2026

Instead of a TV floating on paint, this wall gives it architecture: a charcoal stone panel haloed in warm light, framed by walnut panelling and a slatted column, with lit display niches either side and a long floating console below.

The idea behind it

The trick is layering three depths — walnut base wall, stone TV panel proud of it, TV proud of that — with light in each gap so every layer floats.

Symmetrical lit niches turn storage into gallery: a few ceramics per shelf, each with its own pool of light.

What you will need

  • Walnut wall panelling, wide veneer panels with one slatted section for rhythm

  • Charcoal stone TV panel, a large-format porcelain slab with LED halo

  • Floating black console, a full-width drawer unit with under-glow

  • Lit display niches, symmetrical shelves with warm strip lighting

  • Cable management chase, conduit behind the stone panel — no visible wires

Steal the look

  1. Step 1

Panel the wall in walnut, adding one slatted column for texture

  2. Step 2

Mount a stone or porcelain slab panel with a concealed LED halo

  3. Step 3

Fix the TV flush to the slab and chase all cables behind it

  4. Step 4

Hang a floating console below with its own under-glow

  5. Step 5

Flank with lit niches, styled sparsely — three objects per shelf

Perfect for

  • Living rooms where the TV wall is the focal wall
  • Fans of warm wood and stone together
  • Anyone hiding a soundbar, boxes and cables for good
  • Symmetry lovers

Avoid if

  • You rent and cannot build out a wall
  • The room needs bookcase-level storage, not display
  • A projector setup is the actual plan

A television disappears when the wall around it is more interesting — build the frame, not the screen.
