A Hollywood Glam Vanity in Blush, Marble & Marquee Lights

This dressing room turns a full wall into an old-Hollywood beauty station: marble counters, brass-trimmed cream cabinetry, back-lit display drawers and a marquee-bulb mirror big enough to reflect the whole room, softened by blush velvet and a sheepskin rug.

The idea behind it

The design leans on one hero move — a mirror framed in warm globe bulbs that spans nearly the entire wall. Everything else supports it: the marble stays pale so the light bounces, the brass trim repeats the bulbs' warmth in thin lines, and the cabinetry keeps its profile simple so the glow is the ornament.

Storage is treated as display. Glass-fronted, internally lit upper drawers turn perfumes and brushes into a boutique vitrine, while deep lower drawers swallow the unglamorous stuff. The reflected wall of glass wardrobes with lit shoe shelves completes the illusion of a private backstage suite.

Softness is deliberate and concentrated: one blush channel-stitched stool, one blush armchair, one white fur rug. Against all that stone and glass, three plush moments are enough to make the room feel intimate instead of showroom-cold.

What you will need

  • Marquee-bulb mirror, The centrepiece — a large mirror bordered by dimmable warm-white globe bulbs for shadow-free face light.

  • Marble or marble-look counter, A pale veined surface that bounces light and gives the station its luxury backbone.

  • Cream cabinetry with brass trim, Flanking drawer towers and a knee-hole centre; slim brass edging ties the metal story together.

  • Blush velvet stool, A channel-stitched round stool on a brass base — the soft note the stone needs.

  • Internally lit display drawers, Glass-fronted shallow drawers with LED interiors for perfume and brush display.

  • Sheepskin or faux-fur rug, Defines the vanity zone and warms the floor underfoot.

  • Crystal accent lamp, A small chandelier-style table lamp adds sparkle without competing with the bulbs.

  • Fresh roses in glass, One vase of blush roses softens the marble and repeats the palette.

Steal the look

  1. Step 1

Pick the longest uninterrupted wall and plan a full-width counter run at 72–75 cm height with a knee-hole in the centre.

  2. Step 2

Install base cabinets and drawer towers first, then top with a single slab (or two book-matched pieces) of marble or marble-look quartz.

  3. Step 3

Mount the mirror so its bulbs sit roughly at face height when seated — the centre of the mirror around 120 cm from the floor.

  4. Step 4

Wire the bulb border and drawer LEDs to a dimmer near the seat so you can shift from working light to evening glow.

  5. Step 5

Add slim brass trim to cabinet edges and choose brass pulls in one consistent finish.

  6. Step 6

Layer in the blush stool, fur rug and one armchair; keep all textiles in the same dusty-pink family.

  7. Step 7

Organise drawers shallow-first: daily makeup nearest the seat, hot tools in a heatproof drawer, jewellery in lined trays.

  8. Step 8

Finish with styling in odd numbers — roses, a crystal lamp, a framed monochrome portrait — and stop before it gets crowded.

Avoid if

  • You want a minimalist, decoration-free bedroom

Frequently AskedQuestions

For makeup, yes. A border of round warm-white bulbs lights the face evenly from all sides, erasing shadows under the eyes and chin. LED strips are slimmer and cheaper but tend to light the mirror more than the face. Choose dimmable globes around 2700K for the most flattering result.

Aim for 72–75 cm (28–30 in), which is desk height rather than kitchen-counter height. Pair it with a stool around 45 cm so your elbows rest naturally on the surface while doing makeup.

Seal it once or twice a year, wipe up perfume, foundation and nail polish immediately, and keep hot tools on a heatproof tray. If real marble worries you, quartz with marble veining gives the same look with almost no maintenance.
